Modes
Aerobic
Large muscle group activity: Walking, cycling
Leading on to: Cross training, rowing, stepping, group based aerobics, swimming
Resistance
Circuit training
Contraindications
SBP>180 mmHg or DBP > 110 mmHg
Overhead resistance exercise
Valsalva manoeuvre (holding your breath and staining)
Isometric contractions (pushing a weight without it moving)
Do not use resistance as only form of exercise
Frequency
Aerobic
3-7 days a week not early morning
Resistance
2-3 days a week not early morning
Duration
Aerobic
30-60 minutes session; continuous exercise if possible.
Resistance
10-15 reps; 1-3 circuits
