Vitamin D is produced by our bodies when sunshine hits our exposed skin. Recent research is showing that many people are lacking this vital vitamin.
Being out in the sunshine for short to medium periods of time will expose you to vitamin D which is good for everything from osteoporosis to cancer to depression to heart attacks and stroke. Obviously, if you're exposed for a long time, you need to use a sunscreen, everything in moderation.
It's time to substitute more outdoor activities for indoor -- even the gym. Spend more time walking, biking, gardening, cleaning up the yard, and doing other things -- just put the body in motion, you'll get exercise points.
You'll just feel good. Physical activity has been shown to relax and cheer people up, so if being outside replaces inactive pursuits with active ones, it might also mean more smiles and laughter.
Your concentration will improve. ADHD studies have shown that outdoor exercise has positive effects on the children's concentration, especially if it done in green nature surrounding. So if you have trouble concentrating. you might see if some outdoor activity, the greener the better, helps.
You'll heal faster. University of Pittsburgh research has shown that patients exposed to natural light recovered faster and with less pain. The fresh air and natural light does a body good.
What are you waiting for, get out there.
