The challenges facing medical teams at top clubs is a key item on the agenda at the inaugural UEFA Elite Club Medical Forum, which takes place at UEFA's headquarters in Nyon on 17 November. Medical issues
Team doctors from Europe's élite sides have been invited to the forum, which will look at a variety of medical issues that affect top-level football. UEFA will also be asking the doctors if clubs require further support in this area.

Anti-doping focus
The medical forum will also examine the issue of anti-doping, where UEFA has been expanding its activities in recent years. Doping controls take place across the broad spectrum of UEFA's competitions, and the number of controls has increased as a consequence. Click here for more details

Injury study
UEFA's injury study will also come under the spotlight. Professor Jan Ekstrand, the leader of the research team, will give details of the study's latest results. Concerned by longer seasons and injury rates, the study was launched in 2001 upon the initiative of FIFA, UEFA and the other continental confederations – with a view to learning more about injury patterns and risks – the main goal being to increase the safety of football and decrease the number of injuries. The injury study is monitored by the UEFA Medical Committee.
