You are right……FAD diets DO NOT work and are potentially dangerous
What works 100% of the time is reducing the calories that you consume and adding increased physical activity.  Changing your food choices is critical.  Avoid processed, fatty, and sugar-loaded foods and replace it with fresh fruit/vegetables, low fat dairy, lean protein, and whole grains.
Implementing the following healthy eating behaviors can also save you calories
-Eat sitting down
-Chew your food…..chew at least 10 chews/bite
-Drink water before each meal……research shows that you consume about 100/calories less per meal
-Eat a green salad loaded with as many vegetables that you like and order the dressing on the side.  Dip your empty fork into the dressing lightly and then load the fork with salad
-Snack on fruits, vegetables, raw nuts (just a few as they have calories)
-Eat breakfast every day (consider using a meal replacement bar or shake to control total calories
