COMMENT Exercise plays a significant role in the prevention and rehabilitation of modern chronic disease. What exactly does prevention mean? In the cases where there is a significant genetic factor for a disease, prevention means delay in onset of the disease and, perhaps, a less severe disease. In any case, physical activity and exercise can dramatically improve the quality of life in the containment of modern chronic disease. Despite our knowledge of exercise effectiveness, we have not been as successful as we wanted in physical activity intervention studies.
