Varus deformity of the knee 膝盖内翻足畸形
Knee osteoarthritis is characterized by a wearing-down of the cartilage, usually around the end of the femur bone. Depending on the repetitive forces placed on the knee, osteoarthritis may be more predominant in a specific area. One of the most common areas of cartilage damage in knee osteoarthritis is the medial aspect, and is often associated with a varus malalignment deformity.
Researchers have shown that patients with knee osteoarthritis and varus malalignment demonstrate higher knee adduction forces compared to control subjects (Baliunas et al. 2002), and the magnitude of the force is associated with increased knee pain (Schrader et al. 2004). Hip muscle strength has also been implicated as a factor in excessive knee adductor force (Change et al. 2005).

Australian researchers wanted to know if a hip strengthening program would be beneficial to patients with medial knee osteoarthritis. 89 patients diagnosed with medial knee osteoarthritis were randomly assigned to a hip strengthening group or to a control group. The exercise group completed a 12-week home exercise program targeting hip abductor and adductor strength utilizing ankle weights and elastic bands. (Download the protocol here.) 3-dimensional gait analysis was used to calculate knee adduction forces. The participants were also tested for pain, self-reported function, and muscle strength before and after the 12-week program.

85% of the participants completed the study. While there was no significant difference in the change of the knee force between groups, all pain, function, and strength measures significantly improved in the exercise group. The authors suggested that hip muscle strengthening does not influence progression of disease, but may reduce its symptoms. Unfortunately, the authors chose primarily open-chain strengthening exercises which might not be appropriate to reduce a dynamic closed-chain force created by the knee adductor moment.

In summary, strengthening hip muscles using Thera-Band exercise bands and cuff weights can successfully reduce symptoms of medial knee osteoarthritis
总之,用赛乐弹力带和赛乐小沙袋增强臀部肌肉能够有效减轻内侧膝盖关节炎的症状

同感!平时对客户训练时针对膝关节问题做过加强臀部肌肉的训练,收效不错!
