Purpose: Central arterial stiffness is anaccepted risk factor for cardiovascular disease. While aerobic activity isassociated with reduced stiffness the influence of practicing yoga is unknown.The aims of this study were to: 1) evaluate arterial stiffness in middle-agedadults who regularly practiced yoga, performed regular exercise, or wereinactive, 2) evaluate the reproducibility of arterial stiffness measured in theleft and right carotid artery and by pulse wave velocity (PWV).
研究目的:中央动脉僵硬是一个被普遍接受的心血管疾病的风险因素。然而与降低僵硬度相关的有氧运动,练习瑜伽的影响尚不明确。本研究的目的是1)评价定期练习瑜伽、规律性运动或不运动的中年人动脉僵硬度,2)通过测量左侧和右侧颈动脉和脉搏波传导速度(PWV)评价动脉僵硬度的再现性。
Methods: Twenty six healthy subjects (maleand female, 40–65 yrs old)were tested on two separate days. Carotid artery distensibility (DC) wasmeasured with ultrasound. Physical activity was determined by questionnaire.
研究方法:26名健康受试者(男性和女性,40-65岁)分别在2天测试。使用超声测量颈动脉扩张性(DC)。使用问卷判断体力活动情况。
Results: Yoga and aerobic subjects hadsimilar physical activity levels. Yoga and aerobic groups were not different ineither DC (p = 0.26) or PWV (p = 0.21). The sedentary group had lower DC andhigher PWV compared to the aerobic and yoga groups (both, p < 0.001).Stiffness measures were reliable day to day (coefficients of variation ~2.5%)and similar between left and right arteries (CV = 2.2%).
研究结果:瑜伽和有氧运动在体力活动水平上相似。瑜伽和有氧运动组在DC (p = 0.26) 和PWV (p = 0.21)上均无明显差异。静坐少动组与有氧和瑜伽组相比DC较低,PWV较高(均p < 0.001)。两天比较僵硬程度测试可靠(变异系数约2.5%),并且左侧和右侧动脉相似(变异系数=2.2%)
Conclusion: Physical activity was a strongpredictor of both measures of arterial stiffness, although other factors suchas nutritional status need to be accounted for. An independent effect of practicingyoga could not be detected. Stiffness measures were reproducible and left andright sides were consistent with each other.
研究结论:体力活动可以很好的预测两种方法测量的动脉僵硬度,尽管其他因素比如营养状况也应该考虑在内。不能检测到练习瑜伽的独立因素。僵硬度测量是可以重复的,并且左侧和右侧的结果是一致的。
