Ankle sprains are among ofthe most common injuries seen in daily orthopedic practice. Besideinjuries of the lateral ligament, which is the most frequently injured singlestructure in the body of athletes, sprains can also affect the tibiofibularsyndesmosis. These injuries are known as high ankle sprains.
